Decide what the programme for your event will be ie. films shown, speakers, time limits, themes etc
Audiences can vary - you should be prepared with at least a plan B
Promotion is key - get contacts for the local press, local magazines - the more listings you can get in the local coverage, the better.
Start promotion early - email, mail and phone - don't rely on one form of communication (especially in this game)
Get some flyers/posters done - printing companies will often print on their off-cuts for cheap - spread the flyers/posters around your area.
Sort out whos doing what, when and why pre-event and during event.
